About the GATE Computer Science and IT 2023 online test

This is the official GATE Computer Science and IT 2023 paper as a timed online test (65 questions, 100 marks, 180 minutes). You attempt it under exam conditions on screen, and after you submit you can open the solution for every question, including the concept used and a shorter method where there is one.

It is free to attempt. Your score, accuracy and the questions you got wrong are saved to your account, so you can come back to the same paper later and see whether the weak spots have closed.

GATE paper pattern

The paper mixes MCQ, MSQ and NAT questions. Wrong MCQ answers lose one-third (1-mark) or two-thirds (2-mark) of the marks. MSQ and NAT have no negative marking, and MSQ has no partial credit.

How to attempt this GATE test

GATE gives you three hours for 65 questions. Clear the 10 General Aptitude questions quickly, take the 1-mark subject questions next, and keep the 2-mark and NAT questions for the time you have saved. Remember that only MCQs carry a penalty.

1. Attempt it in one sitting with the timer on. Do not pause to look things up.
2. Use Mark for Review on questions you want to revisit instead of spending too long on them.
3. After submitting, open the solution for every wrong and every guessed question.
4. Retake the questions you missed a few days later to check the concept has stuck.
