A syllabus on its own does not tell you much. What matters is which units the paper keeps returning to, how each question is marked, and how the two sessions of Main decide whether you sit Advanced at all. All of it is below, taken from the official bulletins.

Paper 1 and Paper 2, both compulsory, three hours each on the same day

Set by the organising IIT and changed most years — single correct, multiple correct, numerical and matching all appear
